MPS-TV began broadcasting on Channel 17 on March 17, 2003 and moved to channel 98 on December 1, 2009. The current home of MPS-TV on the Charter Spectrum is channel 190 as of January 21, 2014. MPS-TV joined AT&T U-Verse, channel 99, in the Great Lakes Bay region on July 15, 2013, shortly after celebrating its 10 year anniversary. The partnership between the Midland Public Schools, the City of Midland, Charter Communications, and AT&T is the response to a series of community surveys indicating strong support for an educational cable television channel. Thanks to the support of the City Council and Charter Communications, startup costs were funded through the franchise fees that Charter pays to the City of Midland.
