Volunteer at MPS

At Midland Public Schools, volunteers play a key role in supporting students, staff, and schools in both big and small ways. Whether it’s helping in a classroom, lending a hand during lunch, or supporting school events, our volunteers help create positive, safe, and engaging learning environments every day.

No matter your schedule or experience, there’s a volunteer opportunity that fits you. Volunteering with MPS is a great way to connect with students, support educators, and be an active part of our school community.

After-School Opportunities

MPS is home to a wide variety of athletics teams, clubs, music programs, and academic groups - and our volunteers are a critical part of helping them thrive! Volunteer opportunities include coaching, chaperoning, driving, and mentoring students outside of school hours and on weekends.

Anyone interested in driving students, coaching students outside school hours, or attending overnight trips with students must submit a detailed background check and fingerprints completed by a law enforcement agency. Any volunteer who will be driving students will also be required to submit a current vehicle registration and a current auto insurance policy.

To be considered for one of these opportunities, please complete the After-School Volunteer Form to provide all necessary information.

If you have questions about these opportunities, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Jenny O'Connor at 989-923-5001 or oconnorjm@midlandps.org.

School-Day Opportunities: Join the SHINE Squad!

At MPS, our volunteers are members of an elite group we call the SHINE Squad. These incredible people make an impact because they:

  • Support
  • Help
  • Inspire
  • Nurture
  • Engage

SHINE Squad members can be parents, grandparents, aspiring educators, community groups, or residents looking to bring a little extra light to our schools during the school day. Each SHINE Squad member receives a limited-edition SHINE Squad t-shirt to wear during their assignments, a brief 30-minute training session prior to their first shift, and the feeling that they are making a difference for students in our community!

Check out the current available job opportunities below, then click on the "Complete Volunteer Form" button to complete a quick application.
